pazen elbise/ flannel dress

Geçen kış aldığım ama henüz dikemediğim pazen kumaşlarım vardı.Yeşil olan 1,6 m, kırmızı da 3 m.

I bought some flannels last winter but could not use. The green one was 1,6 m, the red was 3 m.

Burda Pratik Dikiş 2013/03 sayısından 3E modelini seçtim. Geometrik parçalarının olması hoşuma gitti.

I chose Burda Practical Sewing 2013/03 volume, 3E model. I liked the fact that it had geometrical pieces.

Photoshop kullanarak kumaşları elbise üzerinde denedim.

I used Photoshop to fit the fabrics on the dress.

İki pazen birarada fazla iddialı oldu. Blok siyah ile kırmızı pazeni kullanıp yeniden denedim. Bu hali içime sindi. Fırsat bulursam dikeceğim.

Two flannels became quite assertive. I tried combining solid black with red flannel. I liked it much better. I will sew it if i can find the time.

Inspired by Julie Balzer's new stencils I have cut a new stencil myself at home.

Önce kağıt üzerinde, eskiz defterimde akrilik boya ile denedim.

First i tried it on paper, in my sketchbook with acrylic paint.

Sonra akrilik boya- su karışımı ile maviye boyadığım pamuklu bir kılıfı aldım.

Then i grabbed a cotton pillow case that i have dyed blue with acrylic paint- water mixture.

Şablonu sadece elimle sabitleyerek sünger ile akrilik boyayı uyguladım.

I applied acrylic paint using a sponge, only holding it in place with my hand .

Bu hafta yine pamuklu bir kumaş parçasına yaptığım deneme var. Kumaş, beyaz, eski bir yastık kılıfından. Boyutları 15 x 15 cm. Önce akrilik boyalarla fonu boyadım.

This week i tried a cotton piece of fabric again. It was from an old, white pillow case. The dimensions are 15 x 15 cm. First i painted the background with acrylic paints.

Sonra kendi kestiğim şablonla üzerine beyaz bir yelkenli ekledim. Yine akrilik boya kullandım. Fırça yerine süngerle uyguladım.

Then i added a white sailing ship with a stencil i have cut. I used acrylic paint again. I dabbed with a sponge instead of a brush.

Bu hafta yine eski bir pamuklu örtü parçasını kullandım. 12 x 16 cm boyutlarında.

I used a recycled pillow case again this week. It is 12 x 16 cm.

Bol mod podge kullanarak fotokopi çektiğim bir sayfayı yapıştırdım. Bu sayfa odamı temizlerken bulduğum çok eski bir fotokopi, en az 16-17 yıllık. Tadao Ando'nun tasarladığı bir müzenin fotoğrafı. Tadao Ando benim çok sevdiğim Japon bir mimardır. Uzun yıllar boksör olarak hayatını sürdürür, sonra dünyayı gezmeye karar verir ve mimarlık eğitimi almadan mimar olur. Tasarladığı yapılar oldukça az malzeme ve mimari eleman kullanır, sade ama çok şiirseldirler. Işık, ses hatta kokuyla varolurlar.

I pasted a photocopied page with plenty of mod podge. I have found this page while purging my room, it is very old, at least from 16-17 years ago. It is the photo of a museum designed by Tadao Ando. He is my favourite Japanese architect. He was a boxer for a long time, then he decided to travel the world and became an architect without a formal architecture education. His buildings make use of very few materials and architectural elements, they are modest but very poetic. They come to life with light, sound and even scents.

Kumaşı ıslatıp parmağımla ovaladım.

I wetted the fabric and rubbed the back of the paper with my fingers.

Kumaşın üst yüzeyi soyuldu.

The upper layers of the paper peeled off.

 

Sanırım bu sefer daha iyi bir sonuç elde ettim. Doğrudan kumaş üzerine mod podge ile, hem de çıktı yerine fotokopi kullanmak işe yaradı. Şimdi yeni sorular var kafamda, mesela daha yeni bir fotokopi kullansam ne olurdu? Mod podge'u alalı 2 yıl oldu, acaba bayatladı mı?

I guess i had a better result this time. Using mod podge directly on fabric, using photocopy instead of a print out worked. Now i have new questions on my mind, like  what if i used a newer photocopy? It has been 2 years since i bought the mod podge, is it expired?

Kağıdın en üst kısmını ovalarken bazı yerler fazla soyulmuş ve kumaş katmanı ortaya çıkmıştı. Mod podge kuruduktan sonra kağıtla bütünleşip film gibi bir tabaka oluşturmuştu. Yırtık kısımlarda bu tabaka da kabarmış gibiydi. Ucundan tutup çekmeyi denedim, tabaka soyuluyor. Muhtemelen yıkama sonunda toptan soyulur. Yani kumaşa görsel transferi için mod podge iyi bir seçim değil.

As i was rubbing the topmost layer of the paper some parts were torn and fabric was visible at some places. After mod podge dried it formed a film like layer. At torn places this film was swollen. I tried to pick it from the torn parts, the layer peels off. Most probably it will come off totally after the first wash. So using mod podge for image transfer on fabric is not a good idea.

Çok uzun bir ara verdim bu projeye ama vazgeçmek yok. Daha deneyecek çok şey var.

I had a very long hiatus for this project but i am not giving up. There is still so much to try.

Yaklaşık 20 x 20 cmlik bir pamuklu kumaşı akrilik boyalarla boyadım. Kumaş yine eski bir kılıfın parçası.

I painted a 20 x 20 cm cotton piece with acrylic paints. The fabric is a recycled pillow case.

Boya kuruduktan sonra mod podge ile kağıt üzerinde bulunan siyah beyaz bir deseni kumaşa yapıştırdım.

After the paint had dried i pasted a black and white paper image onto fabric using mod podge.

Sonra kumaşı hafifçe ıslattım ve kağıdın arkasını parmağımla ovaladım. Böylece kağıdın üst yüzeyleri soyuldu.

Then i wetted the fabric and rubbed the back of the paper with my fingers. Thus the upper layers of the paper peeled off.

Kağıt soyulduktan sonra geriye soluk bir desen kaldı. Daha fazla ovalayınca tüm desen siliniyordu o yüzden bu aşamada bıraktım.

After the paper was peeled off, a faint image was left on the fabric. I could have rubbed more but the pattern was totally being erased in this case. So i stopped at this stage.

O soluk desene dayanamadım ve elime fırçayla akrilik boyayı alıp üzerinden geçtim. Bir transfer macerası daha hüsranla bitti. Ya teknikte bir hata yapıyorum ya da mod podge çok işe yaramıyor. Çözemedim...

I could not bear the faint pattern and i went over it with a brush and acrylic paint. Another transfer failed again. I am either making a technical mistake or mod podge does not work very efficiently. I could not really figure out...

pazen fırın eldivenleri/ flannel oven mittens

Aslında bu projeyi taa anneler gününden önce yapmıştım. İyice eskiyen fırın eldivenlerini yenilemek istedim. Farklı giysi projelerinden artan küçük pazen parçalarını kullandım. Bunun için önce eski eldiveni söktüm ve dış yüz kumaşı, elyaf dolgu ile astar kumaşı olarak üç parçaya ayırdım. Dış yüzü bir dosya kağıdına koyup kalıbını çıkardım. (en altta pdf olarak verdiğim şablon) Pazenden dış yüzleri biçtim. İlki mavi fonluydu.

I actually did this project before mothers' day. I wanted to renew the old oven mittens. I used the small flannel pieces leftover from garment projects. First i ripped the old mittens and separated the outer face fabric, batting and lining fsbric. I have put the outer fabric on an A4 paper and made a pattern (i have given the pdf file at the bottom). Using this pattern i have cut flannel pieces. First one had a blue background.

Aynı kalıpla astarları biçtim. Çok eski bir elbisenin parçalarını kullandım kumaş olarak.

I have cut the lining with the same pattern. I used the pieces of a very old dress for lining fabric.

Evde elyaf yoktu o yüzden eski eldivenin dolgularını kullandım. 2 eldiven yaptığım için her birinin sadece bir yüzünde dolgu var. Yakınlarda elyaf dolgu alacak bir yer yoktu, bekleyemedim ne yapayım :)

There was no batting at home so i used the batting from the old mitten. As i made 2 mittens i could only put batting on one side of each mitten. There was no close shop to buy, i could not wait, i know i am so impatient :)

Astar ve dolguyu çaprazlama dikişlerle birbirine diktim. Acemi işi yorganlama...

I sewed the lining and batting to each other with diagonal stitches. Rookie style quilting...

En son tüm katmanları içe katlayıp kenarları temizledim.

Lastly i folded all layers inside and clean stitched the edges.

Bu fotoda görüldüğü üzere dikerken biraz içeri girdiğim için hafif potluk yaptı.

As you can see in this photo i sewed a bit too far inside, so the fabric is kind of wrinkled.

Bir aydan fazla oldu buralara uğramayalı. Uzaklardaydım ama buradayken de yazamadım, çizemedim. En iyisi yeniden başlamak...

Bu ahşap kediler 9 yıldır bizimle. Yıprandılar, boyaları döküldü. Bu yaz akrilik boyalarla yeniledik onları. Ben başladım, annem bitirdi. En üste de koruyucu olarak mod podge sürdük.

It has been more than a month since i did not drop by here. I was away but i could not write or draw as i was here either. It is best to begin from the start...

These wooden cats have been with us since 9 years. They have faded, the paints peeled away. This summer we renewed them with acrylic paint. I have started and my mom finished. We brushed mod podge on top as a sealant.
