52 haftada baskı yapmak 4. Hafta / 52 weeks of printmaking Week 4

Bu kumaş da geçen haftaki parçalar gibi aslında beyaz keten bir pantolonun paçalarından kesilmişti. Elimde kalan mor akrilik boyayı kumaş medium'u ile karıştırıp üzerine sürmüştüm. Bu rengi pek sevdiğimden değil ama boyaların kullanma süresi geçmeden bitirmek istediğim için deneme yapmaya karar vermiştim.

This fabric was also cut from the hems of a white pair of linen pants, same as last week. I have painted it with the left over purple acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium. Not that i am very fond of this color but i decided to use the paints before their expiry dates.

Kumaş mosmor karşımda dururken ilk aklımdan geçen "keşke bu renge boyamasaydım" oldu. Sonra bir kenara kaldırdım. Eskiz defterime bir şeyler çizerken karşıma daha önce yaptığım bir sayfa çıktı. Bunu yatay çalışmaya karar verdim.

As the fabric stood extremely purple before me, the first thing that crossed my mind was "i wish i had not painted this hue". Then i have set it aside. As i was drawing in my art journal i came across a page i had done before. And decided to rework this page on fabric horizontally.

Bu hafta yeni damga ile uğraşmadım. Ama daha önceden kendi kestiğim şablonları kullandım. Lacivert-mor arası bir rengi karıştırıp mekik desenini boyadım. Yer yer şablondan taştı boya. Bunu fırçayla değil süngerle sürmek lazım ama bende öyle bir sabır yok. Doğrusu süngere çok az boya alıp 2 kere üzerinden gitmek. Benim gibi tek seferde bol boyalı fırçayla çalışırsanız sonuç böyle oluyor.

I did not deal with a new stamp this week. But i have used my former homemade stencils. I have mixed a dark blue-purple hue and painted in the oval pattern. The paint kind of overflowed the stencil. You should use a sponge instead of a brush but i do not have the patience. The right way is to take little paint on the sponge and go over twice. If you take a lot of paint on the brush at once, like i did, this is the result you will get.

Sonra çimen yeşili ve sarıyı karıştırıp "diren kalbim" yazdım. Proje için çalışırken dinlediğim şarkıyı (diren kalbim-hold on my heart) yazmak geldi içimden. Herkesin, herşeyin daha da acımasızlaştığı şu günlerde kendi kendime cesaret vermek için gerekliydi.

Daha önce kağıt üzerine yağlı pastelle yazdığım için çok net okunan yazı kumaş üzerinde kayboldu. Tekrar kumaştan soğudum.

Then i have mixed grass green and yellow to write "diren kalbim (hold on my heart)". I wanted to write the song i heard as i was working for the project. As everything, everybody had got more merciless recently, it was necessary to encourage myself.

The oil pastel text on paper worked out well and it was perfectly legible but here on fabric it disappeared. I was disappointed with my fabric again.

Biraz düşününce yeşilin üzerini beyazla kapatmaya karar verdim. Beyaz tüm morları dengeledi. Arkadan görünen yeşil de sanki gölge gibi oldu. Son santimetresine kadar sakladığım pazen ve basma parçalarından kestim. Mod podge ile kumaş üzerine yapıştırdım. Mod podge kenarların atmasını da engelleyecek diye umuyorum. Sağlam olması için belki dikebilirim de henüz karar vermedim.

Moving on i decided to paint with white over it. The white had balanced all the purples. and the green peeking underneath seemed like shadows. I have cut pieces from the last saved bits of flannel and printed cotton leftovers. I pasted them with mod podge. I hope it will prevent fraying, too. Maybe i can sew them to secure them more, i haven't decided yet.
