52 haftada baskı yapmak 20. Hafta / 52 weeks of printmaking Week 20

Do you ever think how close you are to going mad? When sadness, rage, despair, hopelessness fill inside you all of a sudden, do you realize that your mind is ready to migrate to far away lands? Do you tell yourself that the only way to get rid of this heart break is to lose your mind? I am right at this point. It is easy to tell 120 people had been killed by a bomb in a peace rally in Ankara. From afar it is just a number but all of them are different, 120 separate lives. I believe when i see their photos, so many bright faces, they don't exist anymore. What will their beloved ones, the people who love them will do? We are in the geography of forgetting, then how will their beloved ones forget?
I turn back to my hands again to sooth myself. And i realize i have hearts in my hands...

for the souls we have lost...10 October 2015

Yıllar önce bombalı bir saldırıda hayatını kaybeden Onat Kutlar'ın "Turgut'a" şiirinden...

From "Turgut'a" poem by the poet Onat Kutlar, who lost his life after a bomb attack years ago...

"I think how much we have been pruned to reach the spring.
Now we stand silently by the coast of a thought
not to forget because we are in the land of easily forgetting
dead fishes pass by the table of a crinkled sea
and my friends with lanterns in their hands
i constantly think how much we have died to live."

  3. My head is spinning, my heart aching for all the strife in our world at this time. Watching the TV news is anxiety provoking. Living in or near the areas in question has to be incredibly stressful. The fact that you could create such lovely art hearts in the midst of it all is commendable! Wishing you and the world Peace!

  8. What a tragic thing, terribly sad! And yet, the hearts bring hope in your art.

  9. Hello! I'm touched by your words... All those lives taken away because of madness. I think about those 120 lives that burst away... I'm still haunted by the dead angel baby of the shore and all the others that have drawn too... I live in Belgium and there's so much of those poor people seeking for a better life... I understand you so much even if I am far away. Expressing through art help me to stay balance. I think I would go crazy without it. Your words touched me. My heart is with you.
