Atatürk'ü ve devrim sözcüğünü ağzına almaktan korkan bir toplum olduk. Bayramları kutlamak için "izin verilen" bir toplum olduk. Atatürk bir süper kahraman, canavar ya da diktatör değildi. Hepimiz gibi gülerdi, ağlardı, düşünürdü yani insandı. Ama ülkesini çok seven bir insandı. "Türk" olmanın bir ırka dahil olmaktan öte, bu topraklarda kardeşçe yaşamayı bilen herkesin inanmayı seçtiği düşünce olduğunu bilecek kadar bilge ve umutlu bir insandı. Atatürk'ü, devrim arkadaşlarını ve bu uğurda ölen herkesi minnetle anıyorum. Bugün Bağımsızlık Mücadelesinin başladığı gündür ve mücadele henüz bitmemiştir. Hepimizin bayramı kutlu olsun...

We became a society who is afraid to pronounce Atatürk and the word "revolution". We became a society who is "permitted" to celebrate the national feasts. Atatürk was not a super hero, monster or dictator. He used to laugh, cry, think just like us; thus he was a human being. But he was a guy who loved his country so much. He was so wise and hopeful to know that being a "Turk" was not about being included in a certain race but it was a thought that all who knew to live peacefully in this land chose to believe in. I remember Atatürk, his revolution friends and all who died for this aim in gratitude. Today is the day The Independence War had started and the fight is not over yet. May our feast be merry for all of us...
