52 haftada baskı yapmak 33.-35. haftalar/ 52 weeks of printmaking weeks 33-35

33.-34. hafta
Evde pancar turşusu hazırlarken suyundan biraz çalıp içine kumaş parçalarını yerleştirdim. Karışımda haşlanmış pancar suyu, sirke ve az miktarda sarımsak vardı:)
2 gün boyunca kumaşlar o suyun içinde beklediler.
--------------------
Can we pretend that we are not in the new year for a while? Like until February or even March? I can barely put myself together...
I am continuing the 52 weeks of printmaking on fabric project. As fast as a tortoise but steadily. For the first time in my life i have done an annual project and did not quit in the middle. I have been sidetracked with other things on the way. But somehow these other things have found their way into this project, too.

week 33-34
When i was preparing beet pickles at home i reserved some of the liquid mixture and put the fabric pieces inside. The mixture was boiled beets, water, vinegar and a little bit of garlic :)
The fabric pieces laid there for 2 days.

Çıktıklarında çok hafif bir pembe renk olmuşlardı. Sabun ile yıkadım.
-------------
When i took them out they were a pale pink. I rinsed them with soap and water.

------------------
I did not like the pale color. I decided to stamp on it. I have done this feather stamp in December. Julie Balzer had a stamp carving everyday challenge in December. In the end i could do 1 in 3 days :) I used pieces of the rubber leftover panel at home, i did not buy any material new. I have cut the panel and shaped it with wood burning tool to produce this stamp.

35.hafta

week 35
I stamped on the other beety piece, too.I was inspired by a key at home.

bol arızalı bir baskı:)

a printing process with a lot of mistakes :)

------------
Of course i did not leave the fabric alone and i painted it with diluted acrylic paint. I have outlined the keys with white gel pen.

-------------
Everybody is riding the coloring craze so i wanted to try, too. I doodled on the page with ballpoint pen using my weak hand (i am left handed so i used my right hand). Then i colored with markers. I did not like the white spaces so i covered with black acrylic paint. Did i like the result? No. But i am sharing my experiments here. Not all trials yield amazing results. Yet it is important to just make :)

Bir varmış bir yokmuş.../ Once upon a time...

----------------
Once upon a time, in a seaside town lived a black and white plaid skirt. This skirt had always been so dignified in her 50 years of life, she had never been naughty. Whenever a little wind had blown she would have felt chilly. Whenever the sun had shined a little she would have faded. Because of this she had never left the land and gone to the sea. But her mind had always been wandering on this blue water.

-----------------
One day after 50 years she had decided and said "I will go out to the sea". "You are too heavy, you will sink" they had replied. "I will lighten up" she had said. She had whistled and called out the scissors. "Cut out all my excess" she had told. And the scissors had trimmed her in five minutes.

"Gidiyoruuuum!" diye bağırmış etek. "Denize giremezsin, yüzme bilmiyorsun" diye durdurmuşlar. "O zaman bir tekne bulurum" demiş. Aramış, bulmuş da. Hem de en yelkenlisinden...
-----------------
"I am gooooiiiing!" shouted the skirt. "You can't go into the sea, you don't know how to swim" they had said and stopped her. "Then i will find a boat" she had replied. She had searched for and indeed found a boat. One of the best of the sailboats...

"Öyle herkesi almazlar yelkenliye" demiş bir çokbilmiş.
-----------------
"They don't let everyone on a sailboat" had said a smartpants.

Bizimki durur mu sarılmış bir denizcinin boynuna, öldürsen bırakmaz. O gün bugündür karaya dönmez, ne rüzgar ne güneş, her daim suda...
--------------
Not impressed a little bit, our skirt had put her arms around the neck of a sailor and would not let go in the pain of death. Since that day she had never returned to land, no wind or sun could have stopped her, she is always on water...

52 haftada baskı yapmak 30.-32. haftalar/ 52 weeks of printmaking weeks 30-32

52 hafta sürecek kumaşa baskı projesinde yarıyı geçtim. Aslında üretim hızlı ama yayınlama işi geriden geliyor. Böylece yazın boş geçirdiğim haftaların eksiğini kapatmış oldum. Önceki haftaların projelerine bakmak isterseniz hepsi burada.
------------------
I passed way beyond the half of this 52 weeks of printmaking project. Actually the production is going faster than publishing the posts here. So i have closed the gap of these missing weeks from summer. If you would like to see the previous weeks' work all is here.

30.Hafta
O hafta özgürce boyadım.
--------------
Week 30
This week i painted without abandon.

31.Hafta
Katlamak 2 dakika, makasla kesmek 3 dakika :)
-----------------------
Week 31
I wanted to make a quick stencil this week. I remembered the beauty of the paper snowflakes we used to cut when we were kids. I thought about cutting them from paper first, transfering the pattern to acetate and then cutting it manually again. Noo, it is a veeery long process, there is no time. Then i thought of something else. What if i fold a thick nylon package, cut it directly, would it regain its original shape? I tried and it worked. This stencil had been cut from a pen package which was about to be thrown away. 2 minutes for folding, 3 minutes for cutting with scissors.

Sanat güncesinde yerini aldı. Büyük olan yeni kestiğim şablon. Yıldız damgayı da önceden yapmıştım. Kar taneleri birbirine uydu sanki...
--------------
It took a place in my art journal. The bigger one is the new stencil i have cut. I made the asterisk stamp few weeks ago. Thus the snowflakes kind of went together well...

32.hafta
--------
Week 32
I like keys a lot. I find their forms very impressive as well as their developing technology over the centuries. Locking or unlocking has a rich range of connotations. I tried making a few key stamps. I took a house key, traced around it and cut. I am still using this foam panel leftover at home. I am making a stamp everyday in December and posting them on instagram.

----------------------
I did not like the print on fabric again. So i went around the black print with a white gel pen. It grew on me later.

Ve kağıt üzerinde denemeler...
------------
And trials on paper...

pencere önü çiçeği/ flower in front of the window

-------------
This week i can write very briefly. Before i went to bed after long hours of work i wanted to play with paints. I have sketched the flower with ballpoint pen a long time ago. I had colored it with color pencils and mixed the paints with cotton and oil.(I saw the method on Alisa Burke's blog) I wasn't using my veteran pastels since a long time. I painted the surrounding of the flower with pastels. It is almost impossible to make a detailed study with oil pastels. But when you grab those fat pastels and put them on paper you feel their softness. It is so relieving to work with your hands. Every time i do this, i feel like i have achieved something big :)
Flower In Front of the Window is one of my favourite songs. It tells the difference between being a butcher's cat and a stray cat :)

Üstü Kalsın

Ölüyorum tanrım
Bu da oldu işte.

Her ölüm erken ölümdür
Biliyorum tanrım.

Ama, ayrıca, aldığın şu hayat
Fena değildir...

Üstü kalsın...

Keep the Change

I am dying my lord
So this happened, too.

Every death is an early death
I know this my lord.

Yet, this life you are taking
Is not that bad at all...

Keep the change...

Hediyeler için teşekkürler.../ Thanks for the gifts...

--------------
What did you gift yourself this year? What did you wish for in 2015? This year i wanted to divide my dreams into smaller pieces and achieve at least a little bit of them. Playing with paints and fabric more (regularly if possible), taking a course on art were two of my dreams.I struggled a bit for myself and the universe sent me the rest. Now that i look back i see that i have come a long way with tiny steps. This post is to thank for all the things 2015 had given me, despite its sorrow.

Julie Balzer
-------------
Julie is a multitasking artist that i have been following since a long time. From time to time i talk about her on my blog, too. I joined a giveaway she held in March. I won a stencil she had recently designed. In May i received the stencil. I used it both on paper and fabric.

-------------
I did a tribute page with the mail material and stencil itself :)

-----------------------
Using the stencil i made prints on fabric and sewed a bag. "Orbit Bag".

Alisa Burke
Yine Mart ayında düzenli olarak izlediğim başka bir sanatçı olan Alisa Burke'ün yeni online dersine katılma hakkı kazandım."Sanat Güncesi Keyfi". Dersi adım adım izliyorum, yaptıklarımı ayrı bir yazıda paylaşacağım. Ama aşağıda birkaç örnek var.
---------
Again in March I won a seat in the artist Alisa Burke's new online course."Art Journal Delight". I have been following the course step by step, i will share what i have done in another post. But below i have put some examples.

Birkaç fon

A few backgrounds

Jackie Bowcutt/ Stitchworks
------------------
Jackie is a textile artist but she also works in her artjournal. I learned about her through an art challenge that no longer runs now.Back in June i won one of her artworks in a giveaway she held for her birthday. This piece had started my modest art collection. This is the first original artwork i own.

Postadan gelen malzeme ile anma sayfası yaptım :)

I did a tribute page with the mail material :)
Chuleenan- CSews
------------
Chuleenan has a sewing blog. I won a sewing book in a giveaway she held back in October. "Stylish Remakes" is a book on recycling old garments with new forms, by Violette Room. There are 25 projects inside. With a lot of pictures and explanation. I have put my eyes on a few projects in the book but could not do any yet. I will prepare an evaluation post as soon as possible.

Creative Entrepreneurship Training- British Council
I saw the announcement of this training on Facebook. I applied (there was an evaluation process), got chosen and joined the 5 day training between October 7-11. The training was supported by Izmir Development Agency and would be held in Aegean Chamber of Industry. I was so hesitant on my way, what was i supposed to do among these people in suits with factories (the first thing that " entrepreneurship" evoked on my mind)? I have met with 17 people with so different stories in the class. We were all at different stages of our own adventures but neither of us had solved it all. Creativity is not bound by art i must underline. It is a way of looking at the world with different and new eyes, that's all. So a doctor, a lawyer or engineer can be creative, too.

The content of the training was invaluable. But the most important thing for me was that all these people believed in their dreams. I was so impressed on the first day while everyone was introducing themselves. I am so happy to have met my friends there. It was one of the most positive environments i have seen in a while. The ideas floating in the air, the support we gave each other in these 5 days were incredible. I don't doubt that anyone there will achieve their dreams one day. I am sure we will do beautiful projects together, too. We started planning slowly, i hope that i will share the good news in the new year here.
